Clam which are cultivated with rich water of Kiso Three Rivers and Ise Bay is a byword for famous production of Kuwana.
Clam of Kuwana has a pattern of the Chinese character for eight on the shell and eight is a lucky number in Japan so it is said that it's a good sign.
Also, when two pieces of shell are not the things of the same shell, it is not just correspond, so it is used for celebration as a symbol of matching or conjugal harmony.
The clam dishes which are cooked by various methods are really good like grilled clam, Shigureni, steamed in sake, rice cooked in stock with various ingredients, and soup.
