It was built as a retirement home of the Kishu Kuran the 2nd lord Tokugawa Mitsusada in 1698.
This building burnt several times and was rebuilt each time. The current Minato Goten Palace was relocated originally from another place.
It is a precious building where you can experience the living space of a superior samurai in Edo period.
