The spring is coming! Every year, there is a parade of courtesans(Oiran in Japanese) in Tsubame city. The parade is called "Bunsui Procession of Courtesans".
A procession of courtesans is one of Japanese traditions that started in Edo period. Courtesans dressed up beautifully walk around the town. "Bunsui Procession of Courtesans" reproduced it and now it is an annual event. The three courtesans are the main part of the event.

It is interesting to see beautifu kimono, white skin, block painted teeth and high heel clogs that courtesans have.
In addition, 70 of maiko (Japanese dancing girls of Kyoto) walk with courtesans to make them stand out.

It is really magnificent parade so please do not miss it!
