Yamagataya is a hot-spring hotel built along the Hida River, flowing through the heart of Gero Onsen (spa) Town. The hotel was established in Japan’s Tempou Era – towards the end of the Edo era (approx. 1830 to 1844). Since the time of its establishment, the saying “those who visit Yamagataya relax & unwind more than at home, and return healthy!” has remained well-known, and Yamagataya still stands today as one of the area’s most attractive relaxation hot-spots.
The surrounding spa town is also a fantastic place for a leisurely stroll, and the local chefs' devotion to the use of fresh, local ingredients makes for authentic and delicious Japanese cuisine.
With its therapeutic spa waters and a variety of unique, local Hida specialities to choose from, we hope to welcome you to Yamagataya soon!
