Within the University of Yamanashi of Kofu City, there is a wine scientific research center specialized in the study of cider. From wine and grape related cell engineering, to the latest grape cultivation techniques and the research of wine brewing, this institution unique in Japan carries out a wide array of practical studies to learn from.
Additionally, within the university grounds and nearby convenience stores and shops, it is possible to purchase the wine co-produced with the local wineries by making use of the techniques developed by this research facility.
There are 7 different types of wines branded with the logo of the university (may run out of stock *as of March of 2017).

Access: Approx. 15 minutes by foot from the northern exit of the JR Kofu Station. / Head to the second bus stop "Takeda Shrine" or "Sekisui-ji Temple" at the northern exit of the JR Kofu Station, and get off at the University of Yamanashi stop, approx. 5 minutes. (*As of March of 2017) / Approx. 20 minutes by car from the Kofu Showa Interchange of the Chuo Expressway.
