Itami City Museum of Art is located in a corner of an area called "Miyanomae cultural district" remaining of sake brewery.
Itami City Museum of Art opened in November 1987. The main collection is over 2,000 items of Caricature, 49 sculptures and 4 oil paintings by one of the leading artists of the 19th century France, Honoré Daumier. This is a top-class collection not only in Japan but also in the world. To follow the fundamental theme of ''satire and humor'', we collect caricature works from the 18th century Britain to the present and store about 9,000 items. We also organize about 5 exhibitions a year and conduct the lectures and workshops as well as making attractive exhibition for all generations. Inside the museum, you can view the Japanese Karesansui (zen garden) by a leading garden creator of Japan, Mr. Shigemori Kanto, and enjoy the beautiful nature of all seasons.
