Located just in front of the famous Kozenji Temple is the Yamadaya-Yasuo soba restaurant which, aside from its delicious soba, also stands as the birthplace of Tendai Buddhism.
The restaurant is also known for its apple tempura – a speciality dish unique to the restaurant, consisting of sweet apples deep fried in a crispy batter.
As the central hub of the Japan Alps, however, Komagane City boasts a large number of great soba restaurants, making it a paradise for fans of this signature Japanese dish. Be sure to eat early, however, as many restaurants sell out by noon!
