Shimonoseki in Yamaguchi prefecture is famous for a variety of food specialities – especially its fish, including blowfish, sea-urchin, squid and monkfish, as well as local wagyu beef, tomatoes and aubergines.
Mankan Zenseki is a satisfying full course meal (translated as “saizen no seki” in Japanese) using all the the local ingredients listed above, which are considered representative of Shimonoseki city.
Available only at restaurants which have been officially qualified to serve the dish, Mankan Zenseki’s luxurious combination of both mountain and ocean food preparations side by side is reminiscent of a traditional Chinese dish of the same name.
Such well-known Japanese signature dishes are divine to the taste-buds, allowing you to momentarily forget your daily life and immerse yourself in a rare world of culinary delights.
