Utilising advanced automation technology, Nissan’s latest video collaboration shows the Ichinoyu Honkan ryokan (inn) in Hakone evolving beyond that of a standard Japanese ‘omotenashi’ (hospitality) style inn, becoming instead something entirely futuristic.
With a single switch, the slippers at the front door (a staple in Japanese inns and guesthouses) can be seen to automatically arrange themselves in a straight line right before the guests’ eyes. The cushions in the bedrooms, the tables and even the TV remote controls can be seen to align themselves back into their correct position.
