Itami Gocho Yataimura (Itami Gocho Food Festival) is a family-friendly, free-entry food festival held twice a year in central Itami.
This year’s spring event will be held March 9th – 11th.
Local businesses will serve up their specialties to visitors at Itami's Sangenderamae Hiroba (Sangenderamae Square). You can find everything from meat and fish dishes to vegetarian cuisine, world food, rice and noodle dishes, and sweets. Eat to your heart's content whilst enjoying the live music and dance performances.
Entrance to the event is free, but there will be a collection in support of the victims of the 2011 Great East Japan Disaster. Having been hit by the 1995 Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake and received kind support from people all over Japan, the people of Itami started the event to raise money and support for those affected by the 2011 disaster. Donations collected at the event are sent each year to Miyagi Prefecture Natori City Commerce Association, to aid in their continuing efforts to rebuild their area.
