Narukawa Museum was built in April 1988 on the hill top overlooking Lake Ashi. They have 4000 Japanese contemporary paintings and change exhibition four times a year. Especially, they have over 150 works of Yamamoto Kyujin (a recipient of the Order of Culture); the largest collection in Japan. Yamamoto Kyujin had led the Japanese contemporary art after World War II and had created new arts. You can view from the museum, Lake Ashino surrounded by mountains, the red gate of Hakone Shrine, a pleasure boat on the lake. On a sunny day, you can also see beautiful Mt. Fuji. There is 50 m length observatory room and a tea lounge named “Seasonal Wind” in the museum to enjoy the extraordinary view. Visit and spend a relaxing time there after watching the Japanese contemporary paintings.
