Oniyo is a traditional fire festival for more than 1600 years of history, which rejects disasters at the beginning of the year and brings happiness. Six largest torches in Japan are flamed with red blaze and hundreds of sparsely male supporters carrying each flame around the premises with Y-shaped oak tree branches called Karimata. It is a New Year’s fire festival. It is said that when you shower by the spark from the torches, you will have good health, happy family, erase disaster and good fortune.
