As the oldest shrine in Iwaki Ciy, there isn’t a more appropriate place for ‘hatsumode’ (the first shrine visit of the year, traditionally undertaken on New Year’s Day) than Okunitama Shrine. Dedicated to Ebisu, the Shinto god of fishing and commerce, and Daikoku, the god of wealth, the shrine sees a great number of visitors each year from both within and outside Iwaki.
