It is a custom to decorate the Pine Tree called Kadomatsu at the entrance on New Year’s Day in Japan. Tachibana Shirine in Unzen Chijiwa-cho has a giant Kadomatsu much taller than eye level every year. They started this Kadomatsu from the beginning of the 21st century year 2000, and has also been recognized as the “largest Kadomatsu in the world” in Guinness Bok of Records.
Its height is 13 to 14 meters and the girth is about 8 meters. Combined 48 bamboos, decorated with pine and plum at the base. It is set up between the end of December to the end of January every year, it is lit up in the evening and welcomes a lot of visitors. Giant Kadomatsu will bring you a great luck.
