Kurume Kasuri is a cotton fabric made in Kurume originated by Inoue Den in 1788, which is made with traditional dyeing and weaving techniques of simple splashed pattern. It is recognised as one of three major Kasuri of Japan, and is designated as a National Important Intangible Cultural Asset.
Kasuri will be a better texture when it is washed so it is used in the daily life. New designs and products which also fit in the modern outfit are also created.
