Shubukan is an historical dojo established in 1786 (the 6th year of the Tenmei Era). The dojo teaches the traditional Japanese martial arts of kendo, naginata (pole arm fencing), and iado (a martial art emphasizing techniques of quickly drawing one’s sword in response to attack). Practioners at Shubukan respect the traditional maxim of martial arts, “everything begins and ends with a bow”. Shubukan provide training to those aiming to become competent in both traditional literary and martial arts.
It is possible to watch or participate in training sessions (reservation needed).
