The local speciality of the Obama Onsen (hot spring) area, Obama Champon is said to have its origins approximately 100 years ago, when visitors to the onsen who came by boat from Nagasaki began to spread the word about champon – a soft, mellow soup based on chicken giblets and pork bones.
