A well-known hot-spot for ‘hanami’ (cherry blossom viewing), Kuroiso Park sees hundreds of visitors every spring, coming to enjoy its ‘sakura matsuri’ (cherry blossom festival), held each year in April.
The park is also home to dogtooth violet, which is in full bloom during the same period as the cherry blossom.
On clear days, the bridge connecting Kuriso Park with the neighbouring Nakagawa Riverside Park offers magnificent views of the Nakagawa River and the Nasu mountain range, and as such it is a popular photography spot.
In 2012, the park’s playground equipment was replaced, making it an ideal location for children.
