Shuzo Aoki, who served as German minister and Foreing Minister in Meiji era, built a villa in Nasu.
It was designated as a national important cultural property in in December, 1996.
The designer is Tsumunaga Matsugazaki, who learned architecture in Germany, and he also designed the head office of Shichijushichi bank and the Taiwan Railway Hotel etc.
This Aoki villa is the only work of Tsumunaga. It is applied to German architecture techniques around framework and roof truss, and the wall has scaly straight.
The flower garden near the villa has different kinds of flowers season by season. Rape blossoms in spring, sunflowers in summer, and cosmoses in autumn beautifully bloom.
Including roadside resting area near the villa, it is ranked 4th of "the best stations to visit".
