The great military man from late 19C to early 20C, Iwao Oyama built his own personal villa inside his Oyama farm. The villa consists of a Western style house and a traditional Japanese house.
The Western style house is built with bricks produced on site, at his farm. A bank, built to avoid the strong wind from the north, still stands on the north side of the villa.
Oyama belonged to a noble class. The old law protected properties of noblemen to be sold out. However after the WWII circumstance have changed, and Oyama farm became defunct.
The old Oyama farm has since become a property of the prefecture, and now a part of a local high school. In order to visit, reservation is required one week in advance.
