It has been no much more than 100 since humankind invented the heat sterilization of milk.
Before then, it used to be drunk raw as it was.

The method used to sterilize milk while preserving its rich flavor and nutritive properties as much as possible was named "Pasteurization" (international standard).
The regular heating process would normally sterilize the product in an instant using a temperature of 120°C. However, pasteurized milk is heated at 72°C for 15 seconds, making it an excellent method capable of preserving the best of natural milk.
