The secret to Toteyaki's superb texture and unrivalled thick, fluffy sponge, is its lavish use of locally sourced milk and eggs from Nasushiobara.
Many shops in the area even offer their own unique take on Toteyaki, making it a definite ‘must try’ for anyone visiting the area.
For those with an especially sweet tooth, the Minitote in particular is full of places to come and try a wide range of Toteyaki.

The name ‘Toteyaki’ is thought to have been derived from the trumpet-shaped horns used by Tote horse-drawn carriages, which to this day still service the Shiobara hot-spring area.
