After the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake that took place in 1995, Pan Akimoto Co., Ltd. saw the opportunity to start producing canned bread that would become secure, safe, and also tasty emergency provisions.
Starting with Japan, the special manufacturing method of this product has been licensed in 4 countries, and it allows for long-term storage with a maximum 37 months.
In 2009, it was approved by NASA and taken into the Space Shuttle “Discovery” to use as space food.
It is also sent to aid foreign countries in need of foodstuff and supplies in case of disaster.
